Parent Teacher Training Programme
Supporting your child’s learning — in a way that works for them
At The Way You Learn, we support parents (including homeschooling families) to create learning at home that feels calm, engaging, and achievable — for neurodivergent and neurotypical children alike.
These sessions help you understand how your child learns and how to support them in a way that builds confidence rather than pressure.
Key idea: You don’t need to be an expert — you just need a clear framework and practical strategies you can use straight away.
Who this is for
This programme is for parents who:
- Want learning at home to feel less stressful
- Are supporting a child who is autistic, dyslexic, has ADHD, or learns differently
- Feel unsure how to adapt learning to their child’s needs
- Want practical strategies, not overwhelming theory
Our approach
Our approach is child-centred and neurodiversity-affirming. We focus on what helps your child access learning:
- Interests and strengths
- Sensory and emotional regulation
- Executive functioning (attention, organisation, transitions)
- Motivation, confidence, and sustainable routines
This work has been positively received by educational psychologists, SENCOs, teachers, and — most importantly — families and children.

Frequently asked questions
Do we have to be homeschooling to do this?
No. Many parents use the strategies to support learning at home alongside school, tuition, or alternative provision.
Is this only for autism / ADHD / dyslexia?
No. This is needs-led. We look at how your child processes, regulates, and learns best — regardless of labels.
Will you tell me exactly what to do?
You’ll get practical strategies and a clear framework, plus a simple plan tailored to your child. Nothing overwhelming.
Is this therapy or diagnosis?
No. This is educational support and practical guidance for learning at home. It complements (but doesn’t replace) specialist services.
What do I need to prepare?
Just a few notes about what’s currently hard (e.g., reading, writing, transitions, motivation) and what your child enjoys.
